Pancakes & Booze Art Show -Head over to Penn Social this Thursday, July 24 starting at 8pm for pancakes and booze. The Grille at Morrison house is adding a summer twist to its beloved Tea with Mrs. B series. The tea time filled with dress up, crafting, story time and a sprinkling of manners for kids, with be going Hawaiian this summer with a specialty tea menu befitting of the tropical paradise. The Grille will host a Hawaiian Luau Tea with Mrs. B on July 26th and then again on August 16th. There will be a host of tea options for kiddies (and adults, too!) Next up, the launch of Jackson 20’s annual Bounty of the Bay crab fest series. Part I will be held Sunday, July 27th 6-8pm, part II Sunday, August 17th 6-8pm and part III on Sunday, September 14th 6-8pm. The fest will include a full scale crab boil complete with Maryland blue crabs, peel and eat shrimp, Oysters Rockefeller, summer corn, and boiled red potatoes from Chef Brian. The summer series will be hosted in the restaurant’s spacious courtyard, dress casual and prepare to get messy! Tickets are $48 and include all food, tax and gratuity (excludes alcohol). Isn’t it amazing how you can taste two wines, both made of the same grape, but made differently and thus having completely different flavors? Cheesetique in Shirlington will delve into this very subject on Monday, July 28. Cheesetique will be presenting four of the world’s most popular grapes, each in a traditional style and a new and interesting style to show participants how the same grape can be completely different! In addition, they will also be doing the same thing with cheese – featuring the same styles of cheese made in two different ways. You know how to pair wine and cheese, but ever wondered how to pair cocktails and cheese? Learn about the art of cocktail & cheese parings at Sona Wine Bar and Creamery on Monday, July 28. Sona’s bar manager, Tara, will introduce attendees to pairing craft cocktails and cheese, from traditional pairings to something completely new! Attendees will also learn how the cocktails are made, and even better, will get a discount on all cheeses featured in the class. On Tuesday, July 29th, DGS is collaborating with acclaimed Louisiana chef Wes Morton on a southern delicatessen dinner: southern style pickle plate featuring okra and watermelon rind, corn bread with sorghum butter and gribenes, grouper stuffed with our house smoked whitefish, jambalaya spiked with smoked chicken and braised tongue and more. The special 3 course menu is available 5pm to 9:30pm for $35.
